Steve Maguire
Director & Operations Manager
Steve Maguire, the Managing Director of PWS, brings 19 years of expertise in poly welding and industrial plumbing. After a successful career in the Western Australian mining industry, he returned to Tasmania in 2012. Since then, Steve has been a key player in managing large-scale irrigation, potable water, sewer, recycled water, and pump station projects. His extensive experience includes valve assemblies, pits, pipes, pumps, and commissioning of critical infrastructure. At PWS, Steve oversees project management and supervision, ensuring the highest quality of work and seamless client interactions. His leadership ensures that all projects meet their scope, quality, and safety requirements.
Rodney Wilson

David Cooper
Project Delivery Manager
David, a Project Manager with over 30 years of experience, specialises in civil infrastructure projects across mining, water & sewage, and urban roads. An accredited hydraulic and wet fire system designer, David is proficient in Australian Standards AS3500, AS2419, AS2008, and AS2941. He has managed projects for RACT Freycinet Lodge, TasWater Gowrie Park, and MMG Rosebery, among others. With international experience in the Middle East and New Zealand, David’s expertise includes road construction, mining automation, watermain design, and fire system construction. Known for his problem-solving skills, David ensures safe, efficient project execution and has led teams of up to 25 employees.
Doug Tangney
Project Manager & Environmental Scientist
With 15 years of experience in Australia and New Zealand, Doug specialises in project management, contract administration, estimating, and systems management. His expertise spans urban and rural infrastructure, mining, aquaculture, sewerage treatment plants, quarrying, and large-scale irrigation systems. At Poly Welding Solutions since 2022, Doug handles tender preparation, estimating, scheduling, and project management. Previously, he worked at Walters Contracting and Batchelor Construction Group, managing projects up to $10m and teams of up to 30 field staff. Doug’s extensive experience ensures high-quality, compliant project delivery and strong client relations.
Kurt Harnett
Project Manager
Kurt oversees workflow management, client interactions, resourcing, and ensuring project quality. With over 30 years of experience in industrial and domestic plumbing, including 15 years as a self-employed contractor, Kurt has expertise in mining, aquaculture, water/sewerage, local government, and large-scale irrigation systems. His previous roles include Mining & Industrial Manager at Irrigation Tasmania and Director of Kurt Harnett Plumbing, where he managed staff, scheduling, and tender estimation. Kurt’s extensive background ensures high-quality project execution and strong client relations.
